Grilled Steak with Mustard Butter
Grilled Steak and Mustard Butter
This is a quick and easy grilled recipe that should take no more than 10 minutes to prepare and around 20 minutes of cooking time. Grilled steak and mustard butter is a family favourite and I first came across the recipe on my travels to France. Grilled steak with mustard butter can be served with all the usual side dishes such as jacket potatoes, salad and corn on the cob.
Grilled steak with mustard butter ingredients:
- 6 good size fillet steaks
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons of rosemary
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons of basil
Mustard Butter ingredients
- 150g butter
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of French mustard
- 2 teaspoons of lemon rind
- 2 tablespoons of chopped chives
Flatten out your fillet steaks so they are all evenly sized and to stop them curling at the edges, cut them slightly around the edge every inch or so. Next, take the oil, rosemary, garlic and basil and blend into a fine paste, then rub the mixture evenly into all the fillet steaks.
The grill the steaks, prepare your grill to open cooking and place the steaks on the grill on high. Cook the grilled steaks for 2-3 minutes on either side to seal in the juices. If you like you grilled steak rare then cook for a minute or two longer. If you prefer your steak to be medium or well done, move the steaks to a cooler part of the grill and cook for another 5-10 minutes remembering to turn them regularly.
To make the Mustard butter is very easy, just take the butter and the rest of the finely chopped ingredients and mix well in a bowl. Once the ingredients are mixed well, roll the butter into a log using cling film and place in the refrigerator until needed.
